Stay Safe Online Current Scams, WhatsApp Settings, Fake text messages

All your IT in one place, computer support, website design, domain registration, website hosting, video interviews, email, data storage, cyber security – and anti-virus software

If your computer is going slow, bring it in for a health check, we’ll do overnight scans, remove any viruses and unnecessary programs that are slowing it down – this is usually more cost effective (and definitely more environmentally friendly) than buying a new computer – but if it isn’t – we’ll tell you.  We can also install ESET anti-virus software recommended by Which?

Current Scams

Be careful with emails that say you are in a photo or video – curiosity makes us want to have a look – common sense should tell us that this is a scam – but if you’re in a rush you may not think first!

If you use WhatsApp, change your ‘Group’ settings from ‘Everyone’ to ‘My contacts’:

Which? Research reports that cold calls are currently the most common scams – callers asking you cancel things like Amazon Prime renewals by ‘Pressing 1’ – which connects you to a fraudster.

SMS text message scams are increasing. Hermes and Royal Mail have been targeted with fraudsters sending texts that say that a parcel is being held due to an unpaid shipping fee.  Fraudsters have even set up a clone Royal Mail Website – texts direct you to ‘royaimaii.com’ which goes to a slick phishing website that collects all the bank details you enter.

Always type in the company name on Google and check on the real website.Sign up here for Which? Scam alerts direct to your inbox:
